What is the affirmation that resonates with you right now in your life? Why did you pick this affirmation?
“I feel abundance all around me and within me. I am a powerful co-creator of this Universe and I trust that all my needs will always be met.”
I chose this affirmation because even when I cannot see where I am going or what I am doing. I can feel it so strongly and I know that I am protected. That makes me confident in who I am and where I am going.
2. How did you start your yoga practice?
I began my yoga journey as part of a 100 days of Happiness challenge back in 2014. I utilized YouTube and Instagram for many of my references early on before actually attending a class.
3. As a Curvy Yogi, what obstacles have you had to overcome in your practice?
Forward folds! The boobs getting in the way. My stomach getting in the way. Not feeling like I am going deep enough into the poses. I overcame the obstacles by stating to myself “Sis, this is as far as we can go”. I also grew to love and accept my body as it is.
4. What is your favorite yoga pose? Why?
My favorite yoga pose has finally changed. It used to be the infamous monkey pose but now I have grown to love pigeon variations. It is such a beautiful and intricate pose(s). I feel strong and flexible. My body looks great in this pose lol.
5. What is your least favorite yoga pose? Why?
My least favorite would honestly be birds of paradise pose. Only because I struggle with it and do not practice it often. If I did, I’d probably have different feelings towards it.
6. Do you use props in your practice? If so, what is your favorite prop to use? Why?
Not as much as I used to but my favorite prop would be yoga straps! I really need some new ones. It is so versatile and it’s good for opening the shoulders, hips, hamstrings and everything in between.
7. What advice would you give to other Curvy Yogis who are trying to build their practice?
Do it because you can! I’ve been on this joyride for quite sometime and I’m amazed still at what my body can do. Don’t give up if you fall. We all fall! Dedicate your practice to yourself and for yourself.
